Asheville’s very own enviro-star Drew Jones will be traveling to China to speak at TEDxBeijing on Sept 5! What’s really cool about this TEDx is that it’s a part of a cross-China TEDxPedition – a 5-stop, 4 conference expedition from Beijing to Tibet.
This event is supported by Suchen, a “sustainable Chinese Enterprise” organization whose objective is to “…select the most promising talent from UK and China and develop them in a way which will give them the best chance to be the new breed of innovative leader in China.”
From their brochure:
Expeditioners will engage in TEDxConferences involving Beijing, Xi‘an, Chengdu and Lhasa presenting findings, discussing TED talks and local ideas/initiatives spreading inspiration and acquiring the understanding needed to reach solutions that lead to win-win results in business, for communities and our precious environment.
Our event will be pushing the frontiers of the relatively new TEDx concept becoming the first countrywide, multiple TEDx event. Suchen will be facilitating the launch of 4 separate TEDx conferences throughout China. Not only endorsing and permeating the concept of TED and sustainable enterprise in China, but also conducting research along the way and creating more ―ideas worth spreading.
All of us here at TEDxAsheville wish Drew luck on his trip. Congratulations, Drew. What a great adventure!
Soni Pitts, a TEDxAsheville Organizer
This event is not being organized by the TED conferences — this is an independently organized TED event.

I met and heard Drew for the first time at his recent GreenDrinks presentation. I was unaware that such important work was being done in here in our little slice of the world.
Drew and his visualization model really make it easy to quickly grasp what we are facing in achieving the necessary reduction of our impact on the earth over the next 10-20 years.
I highly recommend hearing and seeing what he is all about.
