Holy cow. What a night.
In case you missed it, the 2009 TEDxAsheville totally blew the lid off of everyone’s expectations. Our speakers were incredible. The performers were outstanding (including our surprise finale, a debut performance of a new, TED-inspired song by Stephanie’s Id). And the crowd felt like it was directly wired to the main power line.
And speaking of the crowd…by 5:45 the line to get in was already winding up the block (and public seating didn’t even start until 6:30). From what I hear, it ended up winding all the way up the hill to Posana Cafe at 1 Biltmore. In the end, we sat well over 400 and turned away almost the same number. What an incredible turnout. Those who couldn’t get in followed along with the live feeds at Posana and on computers, as well as the live audio feed from the Mountain Express.
Twitter was on fire with live updates from our live bloggers and audience members alike. You can check out the archived feed here. Some highlights:

Finally, a standing ovation for everyone who has worked so hard to make this happen! We had a great group of volunteers, organizers and sponsors who made this event what it was. Here’s a toast to inspired teamwork…I can’t wait to do it again next year!

Congratulations – a 100% volunteer operation this successful is rare! Proud to sponsor.

Thanks to all the volunteers, sponsors, and supporters. What a wonderful and inspirational event.
I was just blown away by the response. Many people came because of three litttle initials T E D. But others came to find out what that meant and what was the hub bub about. None were dissapointed. I was inspired and impresses at the level of interest and willingness to be inspired, but then again this IS Asheville. Now lets keep up the buzz an ddo something about the ideas we were privvy to.
