This year, as a new project at TEDxAsheville, we are starting a Fellows initiative that will be similar in concept to TED Fellows. The original TED Fellowships were designed to offer mentoring, support, and exposure to the TED experience to people whose ideas and platforms might benefit from that exposure.
The primary vision of TEDxAsheville Fellows program is to be an incubator of ideas worth spreading for the benefit of TEDxAsheville, the community and the Fellows themselves.
Expectations that TEDxAsheville would ask of Fellows:
- 2 Year commitment
- Year 1 Focus: Participation in TEDxAsheville conference and experience, learning from TEDxAsheville speakers and organizers, networking, and participation in Fellows events/resources.
- Year 2 Focus: Mentoring incoming TEDxAsheville Fellows, possibly speaking at TEDxAsheville, participation in Fellows events/resources, and participation in Fellows committee.
- Potential speaking/networking roles during TEDxAsheville interim events during Year 1 and possible full TEDxAsheville slot in Year 2.
- Quarterly TEDxAsheville Fellow meet-ups, and/or other events as we figure out what is needed, useful and wanted.
- Participation in future TEDxAsheville Fellow & TEDxAsheville events, forums and meetings.
- TEDx Fellow Committee Membership Year 2 to help with the nominations, vetting and selection of incoming Fellows and ideas/organizing Fellows events and perks.
Expectations of the Fellows from TEDxAsheville:
- Opportunities for networking, learning and idea exposure/growth at TEDxAsheville and quarterly meet-ups and/or other events.
- Offering a community-wide forum for spreading your ideas.
- Promotion of TEDxAsheville Fellow projects on TEDxAsheville website, short bios and links, video, vision statement, artist statement, etc. (We haven’t nailed down the format for this yet.)
- We hope to be able to offer personal and/or professional development workshops/seminars/coaching/mentoring/idea development/business development/resource/tools: To Be Determined.
- Free admission to TEDxAsheville for both active Fellowship years. During years 3-5, an as-yet undetermined number of spots will be reserved for TEDxAsheville Fellows Alumni (although you will have to pay the full cost) on a first-reserved, first-served basis.
Please welcome and seek out the Fellows at the 2010 TEDxAsheville Conference. They will be wearing special badges. Their profiles are listed below:
