AidJoy empowers charities to solve dire problems. How do we achieve this mission?

Part A. Investigative Journalism
AidJoy documents the full scope of a dire problem that has a champion. The champion is a charity that is actively working to remedy this problem.
Part B. Empowering The Champion. Through a collaborative effort, we provide the charity with the tools they need to reach a broader audience and raise awareness and funding for their cause.
AidJoy’s mission runs parallel with TED’s goals. Sharing information through technology is the core of our system for helping remedy dire problems.
AidJoy is a facilitator for charities that have solutions to critical problems. We are photographers, web developers, writers, videographers, and marketing professionals. Each of us with the common vision to make sustainable improvements where they are most needed through our skills and passions.
The True Nature Country Fair
True Nature Country Fair, a Celebration of Live in connection with the Earth
Our focus is on Local, Organic and Sustainable so the products and services featured are from the southern Appalachian region and are at least 50% organic and/or sustainable. The exhibit areas include a farmers market, energy and shelter, health and healing, social and political action, and crafts. The education component will include workshops on all aspects of sustainable living plus nature walks and a children’s program.
Applied Solutions Group is a Asheville-based information technology firm. They specialize in computer networking services and custom web design and development. Applied Solutions develops technologies with people in mind.
Jose Ibarra, owner of Applied Solutions, is one of the original founders of TEDxAsheville and the original TEDxAsheville licensee. He designed and developed the TEDxAsheville website and donated its maintenance and hosting. As to why Applied Solutions sponsored TEDxAsheville, Jose says “We have been seeking a light to shine on our local talent and TEDx has provided us with the light and platform.”

I got involved with TEDx partly because listening to the TED talks videos have helped me power through many a late-night deadline. I also wanted to showcase to a global audience the incredible diversity and wealth of knowledge and talent that can be found in our local community.
I contributed to the creation of print advertisements and participated in the early stages of the organizer’s meetings.
ohia has been composing visual art since she was a small girl. her art strength has always come naturally and absolutely and so is passed on to each of her creations with fluidity and passion. ohiaDesign creates award winning graphic design for a collection of varied clients.

The vision of RENCI at UNC Asheville is to bring together the many talent pools of Asheville and Western North Carolina to create economic development that grows out of collaboration. UNC Asheville, the City of Asheville, Buncombe County, the National Climatic Data Center, and the Media Arts Project came together to design RENCI at UNCAsheville’s initial project which developed current 3-D weather models for disaster planning and response in Western North Carolina, which has a long history of devastating floods and mudslides. The Flood Reduction Task Force for the City of Asheville has developed a complete set of recommendations for Asheville City Council to examine. Asheville City planners will use this research to create data-driven policy.

AshevilleNow.com is striving to be the most comprehensive informational guide for Asheville and Western North Carolina. We work hard to present a fresh, authentic perspective on this region, and provide the most accurate portrayal of area resources.
Justin Belleme’s, co-owner of AshevilleNow.com, initial contribution was acquiring video of 6 of the prospective speakers who did not have them. He’s assisted with publicity using my website and social media though the Asheville, NC Facebook fan page, which now has 9,000 fans, and has provided ad and calendar space on AshevilleNow.com, as well.
Justin says he’s a fan of TED and knew he could be helpful in pulling off the event.
GinaDrew.com is a full service design and marketing firm in Asheville, North Carolina, catering predominately to the legal industry.

Gina has been a TED fan for years. Gina’s sole motivation for being a part of TEDxAsheville was to meet and work with other people that were also TED fans.
